Before we delve into the nitty-gritty of this article, let us recognize this very important fact from the very outset. This writer is not in support of people dropping out of college to become businessmen.

In any case, the successful businessmen discussed below did not attain the heights they did by virtue of having dropped out of college. On the contrary, these business moguls were already on their way to the commanding heights of big business even as college students. As a result, continuing to stay in college would have been an impediment to their business aspirations. They therefore dropped out to actualize their dreams even faster.

Now, let us look at some of these famous businessmen who just happened to have left college early'.

1. Roman Abramovich:

This guy is easily the richest man in Russia and is of the most visible billionaires in the world today. He owns the Premier League Football Club, Chelsea FC, and is reputed to be the most liquid billionaire in England [which is his base these days]. He elected not to finish university and launched out into the business world. Today, his lack of a college degree does not seem to have done him any harm.

2. Bill Gates:

This is ore individual that does not quite require a biography. We all know who Bill Gates is. He is the founder of Microsoft and has been the world's richest man for years before he got knocked off the number one position. Like Mr. Abramovich, Bill Gates did not finish University. But, as founder of Microsoft, he can afford to hire people with post-graduate degrees. And, he does!

3. William Hanna:

This guy can be considered an institution. He is the brain behind the highly successful cartoon producers Hanna-Barbera. His lack of a college degree has not in any way hampered his creativity.

5. Steve Jobs

6. Steve Wozniak

7. Larry Ellison

The four guys above are great entrepreneurs and they are all connected to the hi-tech computer industry. Michael Dell is the founder of Dell computers Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak are both Co-Founders of a data base company. Larry Ellison is the founder of Oracle. Like Bill Gates, these four people are all billionaires. And like Bill Gates, they elected not to graduate from College.

Other famous names who did not graduate from college include the following.

Sheldon Adelson:

This man has the bulk of his investments in real estate. He is also into casinos and he is a multibillionaire.

Jack Taylor:

Taylor is the highly successful brain behind the enterprise Rent-a-Car outfit and he is a multibillionaire into the bargain.

As you can clearly see, the people above have two things in common. They are all billionaires and they did not finish college. So, can we therefore conclude that dropping out of college is a necessity for becoming a billionaire? Of course not!

Ted Turner (CNN), Oprah Winfrey, Donald Trump, Al-Waleed Bin Talal. These are all billionaires and they all have college degrees.

Final Word:

With or without a college degree, you can be a billionaire. The fundamental point is that the billionaires above who dropped out of college, did so of their own volition and in the interest of their business. They took a big risk anyhow, but the risk has paid off bigtime!
