Poetry: Rain

A WALK WITH THE RAIN

Its cold little needles of water you bring

Slicing and stinging my cowering skin

Its "dripping" and "drenching" and "driven" you are

An impromptu baptism, an open air spa

And what do you do, you "Creator of Wet"

With your torrents , your showers and your icy droplets?

Where do you wander and why are you here

Bouncing and splashing from sky into mere?

"I wash away grime and I dampen the dust

I fill up the streams and make iron bars rust.

I sluice down the alleys, I hose down the streets.

I make puddles and pools and I flatten the wheat.

I make music on windows and ripples on ponds.

I send leaves into culverts and bend the fern fronds.

I crawl though your clothing , I run down your face

I pick up your tears and their pathway I trace.

I walk where you walk. you tell me your griefs

I walk where you walk through dead Autumn leaves

You tell me your stories, I rinse them away

Till I run from the sun and your lightened heart plays"
