Outsourcing: Effects of moving jobs to low-cost countries

I imagine as technology and automation and overseas workers replace the jobs once given to US laborers, you could stand in line at the unemployment office while whining that American businesses are greedy, selfish, profit machines. For a brief moment, I sympathize, but the moment passes with little aftertaste as I recall the history of the world. Improvements in the way we work has been remodeling business ethics for centuries, even before this continent became the home of the free and the land of the brave.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /

Today, as labor workers and entry level white collar workers complain that their jobs are being shipped to India and China among other countries, I declare we aren't doing enough about it. Many countries have high school students with equivalent knowledge to some US College curriculums. In addition, not pursuing a college degree is considered to be culturally unacceptable. How is this not the normal way of life in America? I consider our inalienable rights and freedom to be much of the cause. Such an overwhelming number of residents of our country are so eager to demand their rights that they neglect to earn anything beyond what has been given to them without charge. Lawsuit has become a four letter word that is recognized by cosmopolitans everywhere as our national motto.
We must reset the bar. We must again charge every citizen with the protection of our freedom and our way of life as we did in the war of independence. Most Americans forget or are oblivious to history. One most notable phrase warns, "If you do not learn your history, you are destined to repeat it." I am not referring to the history of America but instead the history of the world. The Empire of the United States is not the first and certainly not the last. Alexander the Great, the Romans and even the tiny little island of Great Britain can boast of having had larger territories.
The jobs that are being shipped overseas are largely and most recently skilled responsibilities that require consistently high quality results in line with what is the traditional work ethic of countries like India and China. We can not charge businesses with unethical behavior. We are all guilty of having been cheap at one point or another. Most of us have driven an extra couple

of miles to save a mere dollar or two. More significant is that each of us will pay a premium price for what we consider to be better or great service. We insist
