predominately gray.
The wind, like a knife, comes sweeping down
to cut the sticky closeness of the air.
At once, the clouds rumbleandcollide.

I run outside under the shelter
of the porch
to watch nature's most facinating phenomenon.
The leaves on the trees are
mercilessly beaten by the drops...

I step out to feel the refreshing coolness
of heaven's minute tears
and watch one land on my sleeve.
Suddenly the bead of water is a
wet spot
slowly reaching out, e x p a n d i n g
spreading up my arm
making a wet sponge
of the once dry material.
Looking down, I realize that raindrops

They split into
little groups
forming individual rivers down the driveway
eventually to merge in

become black.
The leaves, a richer green
The air is easier to breathe,
and fills my lungs with its sweetness.
