Causes of hair loss

Hair loss in women can be caused by a variety of things. If you are experiencing abnormal hair loss, it would probably be a good idea to check with a health care professional, because there could be an underlying medical reason that your hair is falling out.
One reason that hair falls out is just plain genetics. This is commonly recognized in men, but not so in women. If your mother had thinning hair, your own hair could begin to thin. Their really isn't any reason to be concerned about your health if this is the case, but if you are self-conscious go and see your doctor. Perhaps he could prescribe you a medication and advise you of your treatment options.

Another reason that a lady may begin to lose her hair is b/c of hormonal imbalances and/or disorders. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, or PCOS, is one such disorder that can cause hair loss. If you have hair loss accompanied with anovulation, irregular periods, and overly sensitive weight fluctuation, you should go see your OB/GYN. With proper treatment of your condition, the hair loss problem should be corrected.
A more recognized cause of hair loss is certain medical treatments and medications. Most everyone knows that chemotherapy and/or radiation can cause one to lose much of their hair. I do not know of a way that this can be treated. The important thing in most of those issues though, is the treatment of the actual disease. If you're suffering from hair loss, due to this, just try to keep your spirit up and remember that once your cancer is in remission, you can grow back your hair and have a wonderful "Remission Party" with all of your friends.
And last but not least is stress. We all know all of the mental drawbacks to being under stress, but not everyone recognizes the physical drawbacks. Stress can indeed age you. Many people do agree that stress has caused them to lose hair and/or turn their hair gray. If you think that this is your case, it would still probably serve you well to check with your doctor. After all, it is better to be safe that sorry. If something abnormal is occuring with your body, it is always best to get it seen about.
