Children all over the world have run into their parents' rooms at 3 AM claiming wild stories of elves, fairies, or the bogeyman existing underneath their beds for countless numbers of decades, and for years, parents have always said that those types of creatures just simply don't exist. Parents may tell their children this for many reasons, some may not believe in those types of beings, some may just want to go back to bed, and some may not want to see their child scared of such things.
As a parent, I too, have gotten the 3 AM call to my daughter's bedroom, where she has claimed a fairy, elf, or some other type of fantasy creature, is taking up refuge in her closet or underneath her bed. I admit that I had been exhausted on some occasions when she had burst in, but even through the exhaustion, never once did I tell her that these types of creatures were not "real".
Have I done this because I believe a child's imagination should be kept intact? Well, not really. Have I done it because I believe in such "silly" creatures? You bet! Now, you are probably thinking that I'm crazy and I should be told about Santa and the Easter bunny, but I believe that these fantasy creatures exist for a very solid, philosophical reason. That reason being, if we as human beings believe that God created man, we should most definitely believe in the fact that God also created these creatures too, because, after all, God not only created our physical side, He created our minds too. And if He created those, what ever we can think up, He actually made Himself as well.
Anything thought up is created. If you are an artist, and you have a blank canvas and paint in your hands, you can create a painting of a person on that blank canvas. You could also take that two dimensional painting and make it into a three dimensional clay or marble bust. If you are an architect who has created something on a two dimensional piece of paper, it can be created into a three dimensional building. Tibetan Buddhists have called this process a "tulpas", something that is magically created, or produced.
Thoughts may not be tangible, but they carry energy, and when that energy is believed, things manifest from that belief. If we have the energy to create a fairy in our mind, make him have wings, and call him by the name of Puck, he exists if we believe in him. The fairy Puck has been around for centuries. He exists in stories passed down from generation to generation, he even exists in a famous play written by Shakespeare
