If I had to choose five places in the United States to visit they would have to be:
Nashville, TN
Fort Mackinac, MI
Tucson, AZ
New York, NY
Anchorage, AK
My reasoning in choosing these places is of course going to be different from that of other people, but I'll begin with the first:
Nashville, TN.- If you love music, especially country, bluegrass, folk, or really any type of music. Than Nashville is the place you need to be. Music fills the streets, it fills the air, and it possesses the souls of it's inhabitants. Its a truly beautiful place chalked full of history, great people, great food, and beautiful music. A place of musical import is, The Station Inn, which back in the early 1900's used to be a cat house (also known as a house of prostitution) but was later turned into a bar and music venue that now hosts some famous names such as Dailey & Vincent (Vincent being the brother of Rhonda Vincent, who can also be seen at this venue upon occasion), Nashville Bluegrass Band, Tony Trischka, The Doyle and Debbie Show, Tim O'Brien, Aubrie Haynie, Jerry Douglas, and many more. But Nashville is not just about music, it has a rich history. If you're interested in American history, you will be pleased to note that this was the home to one our presidents. President Andrew Jackson's home also known as The Hermitage can be viewed here. These are but a few reasons i would want to visit Nashville, Tennessee.
Fort Mackinac, MI.- The fort has such great historical value, and has been the basis for many books including The Chaplain's Lady, and A Boy At Fort Mackinac as well as many other somewhat famous titles. It boasts beautiful scenery like the two of the great lakes, and the famous five mile long bridge known commonly as the Mackinac Bridge. It hosts a myriad of tourist shops that sell various collectibles and other items. It offers great camping sites at low prices, but if you're not looking for the whole camping experience then perhaps you might enjoy the local fully stocked cabins that various surrounding sites offer. If you don't want to stay in a cabin than there are good hotels and motels that can be procured for some of the best prices you'll find anywhere, given the quality. Not only are you right in the middle of the great outdoors but you're also surrounded by frontier history as well. The fort itself has reenactments of everything from weddings to traditional dancing. You'll also find the Fort Gift shop and interesting stop, where you can find many books of various
