Microsoft Access is one of the best applications Microsoft has to offer in it's Office Suite.
To add a table to your database simply locate your database,
click new, create table in design view,
when the table design page opens up, go to Field name and type in (i.e First Name),
tab over to data type and select text from drop-down list, (remember, unless the field will be used for mathematical calculations it should always be a text data-type), tab over to the Description field in order to remind yourself or the user exactly what the control means.
Tab down to general properties windows, there you can set the parameters for your fields:
Length in integers
Input Masks-to control how data is entered into the field
Boolean (yes, or no) for duplication of data allowed in field
Validation rules-limit the values that can be put in the field
Caption-How your field will appear to the user
Indexing-allows you to search records faster and prevents duplicate records
Look up Control:
Look Up control allows you to search other tables, queries and forms for info to satisfy query and to provide the info to be used in the new table by searching for the values
Always follow the property value guidelines of your table in design view and you should have a table to enhance your database with ease.
