The Arizona Cardinals will win Super Bowl 43. The Steelers have the experience, they've been to The Game before, they have the top-ranked defense in the league, a quarterback who can take a hit, and some history to make. However, the Arizona Cardinals have Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, two wide receivers that are being compared to Jerry Rice, and a defense that has found their niche since the post-season.
Kurt Warner migrated to Arizona with his family as the back-up guy for young star Matt Leinart. However, youth and immaturity led to Leinart's benching, and Warner's chance in the spotlight, possibly for the last season. He has taken the reins of a defunct team and led them to their first Super Bowl berth in franchise history. His amazing accuracy, quick release, and top-ranked quarterback percentage has lit a fire beneath the bench of the offensive line, causing them to step up their game and protect their QB. The Cardinals offensive line has allowed only three sacks in the three post-season games they've played so far. That is almost unheard of for this o-line.
While the Steelers do have the single greatest defense of the NFL this season, attracting comparisons to the Pittsburgh Steel Curtain of the 1970's, Warner has one of the quickest pass releases of any quarterback. When he is on his game, he will find a receiver. Not to mention the running game of Edgerrin James has attracted its own attention, creating the opportunity for great diversity in play calling for Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley. His expertise, combined with Coach Whisenhunt's love of trick plays, will keep the Steelers defense back on their heels.
While the Cardinals may not be as seasoned as five-time Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, they are America's Cinderella team. They have absolutely nothing to lose. They also may have a few tricks up their sleeve.
Besides the infamous flea-flicker, or Philly Special, that has critics clamoring over Larry Fitzgerald's ability to catch anything in his vicinity, Coach Whisenhunt is keenly familiar with the Steelers offensive game. Before becoming Head Coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Whisenhunt was Pittsburghs offensive coordinator from 2004-2006. The last time these two teams met, Roethlisberger was picked off twice and sacked four times. Needless to say, the Cardinals walked away with the win.
I've got to go with the Cards on this one. They are the underdog by a touchdown, but everyone loves an underdog.
