Indoor rainy-day activities for children

Have them print or write a special note to their grandparents. Draw a pencil line lightly for your child and let them cut out as a jigsaw puzzle. Put in a special envelope and mail to grandma and grandpa. They will have to put the puzzle together to see the picture and who wrote the letter. They can put stickers on the envelope of their choice.

6. Cooking is always fun but go a little further and have them make the supper meal, decorate the table with a centerpiece, choose special candles, fold napkins a certain way. Grilled cheese sandwiches cooked on a sandwich grill, make a tossed salad, pudding or jello can be made for a dessert. They will be so proud and can't wait till daddy gets home to surprise him that they made supper. It teaches that meals take time to make and a lot of love goes in making decorations for table setting. Use your best china and crystal glasses and it will be a special evening just for the family and not company. Have them help with clean up too.

7. I come from a large family and our fun times was to get a jumbo thick 350 piece puzzle and find a place on the floor and see who could put their own puzzle together the fastest.

8. Make different color and flavor of popcorn balls. Invite another poor family over to help. Then watch a rental movie together. Or get a microwave pop corn popper and show them hos to make their own popcorn. Have different seasonings to choose to put on their own dish of popcorn. Seasonings like butter, dry ranch dressing, parmesan, garlic, or salt.

9. Invite your neighbor over for lunch and make pizza on sub rolls. Open up sub rolls and put pizza sauce on and have them choose toppings. Toppings could be pepperoni, cooked sausage/hamberger, ham, onions, mushrooms, cheese, spinach etc. Place on a cookie sheet and put in oven on broil just enough to warm roll and melt cheese. You could also use English muffins. While pizza is in oven they can make some smoothie drinks with milk, juice, ice cream, yogurt, frozen fruit and what ever else they choose.

10. Make special greeting cards of thinking of you, get well, birthday, anniversary, etc. Use glitter, colored markers, colored pencils, crayons, water paints etc. Have them make their own envelopes and then mail to special friends. You can cut word phrases out of colorful sale fliers and pictures of roses, people, and things they want to make their card extra special.

These are just a few ideas for a rainy day activities. I am sure you can think of more. Be sure to share with others and there will be lots of fun and laughter.
