Outsourcing, a good idea? I live in a small community where over 3000 employees in one company alone lost their jobs to outsourcing. This does not mention the other jobs in the area that made parts for this company. Our nation is seeing a trend where companies are leaving the United States, and moving to places like Mexico, and China where they can pay employees as little as $40 dollars a week instead of the going rate of $12-16 dollars an hour here. In effect, this is saving the company millions of dollars, and leaving our citizens jobless, and sometimes homeless.
No one can blame the company for wanting to save money, yet if we continue to let our jobs go abroad, what will become of this nation? Will we be forced to scrounge for jobs, taking minimum wage pay because nothing else is out there? After awhile, people will be forced to go bankrupt, losing everything in their life they have worked towards. Houses, cars, boats, even their life savings will be gone leaving more and more homeless people the nation can not afford to support.
I know from experience the effect outsourcing has on a community, there are less jobs, even a job for minimum wage is hard to find anymore. Teenagers who used to be able to work at the towns fast food restaurant's, like McDonald's or Burger King are no longer able to find a job because an adult who used to make $16 dollars an hour was forced to go to work for minimum wage. People are no longer able to go shopping for extra items, causing stores to make less money, and have the need to get rid of valuable employees, which in turn causes stress not only on the employees left, but the customers who are able to shop and need help, only to find out there are not as many employees, leaving less help on the floors.
With the economy the way it is today, young people will be forced to live at home longer than expected of them. Instead of an 20 year old finding a job decent enough to move out of their parents house, they will be stuck living with mom and dad, who knows how long, maybe permanently. Will we become the next nation to live generation upon generation in the same household? This means grandma and grandpa will be there helping mom and dad raise their children, and possibly great grandchildren. I hope these families like Mac & Cheese and hot dogs, this might become their main staple in order to meet the bills.
Am I against outsourcing? If I am looking at it from a Corporate view, no way. If I am looking at it from an American Citizens point of view. Of course I am, the United States needs to do something about companies moving to other countries leaving our nation jobless.
