There were seven wonders of the ancient world. Only one of which has survived to the present, the Pyramids of Giza, outside of present day Cairo.
The others were:
- The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, located in Babylon which lies about 50 km from present day Baghdad, Iraq.
-The Statue of Zues at ancient Olympia, about 150 km west of Athens. Which was the location of the ancient olympic games.
-The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, located in Turkey.
-The Mausoleum at ancient Halicarnassus, at present day Bodrum, in Turkey. A tomb for an ancient King Mausollos.
-The Colossus of Rhodes, overlooking the entrance to the Greek island of Rhodes, this wonder lasted only 56 years until its destruction from an earthquake, making it the shortest lived of the seven.
-And finaly, The Lighthouse of Alexandria, on a small island named Pharos, outside the ancient city of Alexandria. Aside from the Pyramids still in existence, this was the last wonder to go.
