I've come here today
to tell you a lie
It's that I want to leave you
And I'm going to try
And I'm truly sincere
though it's jumbled and unclear
and I can't find the words
that you'll want to hear
It's been too long in coming
Too easy to wait
Our love's too elusive
for any words we may say
and making goodbyes
is the reason we stay
Don't hold me now
Or I'll cling to you dear
It's so hard to let go
of the warmth of your tears
Remember me and you
And the days we were envied?
They never thought
we would come up empty
And now that I'm leaving
it's cold as winter rain
It's going to seem strange
not to hold you again.
For all that it's done
you know I still care
Looking in your eyes
I know I belong there.

I'd have held tighter, never let go,
You slipped away, unconsciousness your fuzzy blanket.
It was pulled over you by surging forces who had plans in the morning,
