All coffee drinkers are familiar with that wobbling sleepy walk they travel into the kitchen towards the coffee pot. It's a daily routine that wakes us up, but just how much caffeine is in one cup of coffee? Not enough to wake me up because I always need part of that second cup. Coffee is second to oil in items of international trade.
I drink instant coffee. I am the only hot coffee drinker in our home and to make a pot of brewed coffee would be a waste. My husband drinks cold coffee, Java Monster (Loca Moca) he enjoys cold coffee.
Here is a list of some coffees and the amounts of caffeine in each cup
I can of Java Monster (Loca Moca) contains 375mg of naturally sourced caffeine Wow!
In a 7 oz cup of instant coffee each cup averages around 65-100 mg of caffeine.
In a 7oz cup of brewed coffee each cup averages around 80- 135 mg of caffeine
I tried to seek out information about caffeine content on the Maxwell House website and found nothing that listed the amounts of caffeine per cup. These results come from National Drink Association.
In a large cup of Tim Horton's coffee there is 140 mg of caffeine. Did you know that Canadians have become the largest consumers of coffee in North America? In North America lighter roasts of coffee are preferred which actually contain more caffeine than darker roasts
In a brewed Tall (12 oz cup) at Starbucks there is 260mg
So is there actually less caffeine in an espresso than a regular coffee? In research for this article about content of caffeine in one cup of coffee I discovered that the content per milliliter was much higher than in regular brewed coffee, leaving the actual amount of caffeine in one cup, dependent on this size of your cup.
Coffee is second to oil in items of international trade. If you are looking to cut back on the amount of caffeine you take in why not switch to Brewed decaf. In a 6 oz cup there is 3-4 mg of caffeine. In a cup of decaf instant coffee there is 2-3 mg. You can also cut down your intake by having a cup a day. Coffee drinkers are all too familiar with the headache that suddenly happens when we miss our morning cup.
Is there too much caffeine in one cup of coffee? Caffeine is an alkaloid Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system, cardiac muscle, respiratory system and delays the onset of fatigue. Anything we do too much of can be harmful, and for those who need that morning coffee to begin their day their are also health benefits. Like being awake!
