A friend of mine was in the army
An acquaintance of mine was in the army
A brother of mine was in the army
My brother was killed
Someone else's brother shot him
My father will never see him again
My mother sits quietly in his room
Sobbing her memories away
Should I call for revenge?
My acquaintance disappeared in the struggle
His CO stated he died
And no one found the body
His family will have to settle
With the vacant coffin, an empty tomb
And a piece of fabric for the rest of their lives
Should I call for revenge?
My friend was injured
Someone took a shot at him
Yet while it did not kill his body
It ended his life.
He is now a broken man,
Unable to trust or to lie down
The memories of battle
Are burned in his head
Should I call for revenge?
My brother lies in the ground
And my heart fills with sorrow
At the distance I can see
My acquaintance's widow
Sobbing silently on the vacant tomb.
And I see my friend, with a broken spirit and healed body
And I realize there is no point for revenge
They were called to enforce it
And the price was too steep to pay.
Where does it stop?
Should I kill the shooter?
Should I seek his family?
Should I call for revenge?
It stops here and now
For I do not want, nor am I willing to pay
Such a steep price when there is nothing to sell.

They are young, frightened, drab, yet full
Of killing power. They squat and hide, careful
Of the unseen enemy. I feel for
Banded together.
Mingled into one.
Marching through time,
until justice is done.
Marching through fear,
sadness,
and loss,

A Soldier Mourns His Fallen Comrade
A soldier mourns his fallen comrade
by placing a poppy on his grave,
he stands back and
THEIR SLEEP'S A STORM
Sleeping in a muddy trench.
Our heroes breathing filthy stench.
Or resting in a bed of sand.

Letter From A Soldier
Left, Left, Left right Left,
Defend this honor until my death,
This is our war, Right till the end,
