Homophobia and the society of tomorrow

We are truly blessed and cursed by the idea of homophobia and its effects on the present day society.

We are blessed by the fact that we will be the only generation to experience these sentiments.

I do not see people coming out of the closet, no sir.
I see the complete and utter annihilation of the closet itself, and the fading of those sentiments that built that structure going from mainstream to backwater "hick" thought.

I see homophobia becoming a hushed-up topic, much like the closet it built. I see it becoming the topic of coffee shop talk as people tell their companions in low voices about this man or that woman who was a "homophobic" pig, and a complete bastard.

Homophobes will be associated with racists, and bigots. They will be looked down upon by society, as a whole. The homophobic sentiment will actually become something hidden and kept in private.

Thats right folks......

In the age and society of tomorrow, your children and grandchildren will be able to experience the societal brouhaha that will result in the Closeted Homophobe.

From the writer and historian point of view, I am kind of excited by the fact that we have the unique opportunity of seeing the rise and fall of this ugly monster in the modern American age. Our children, and their children following, will not be on the same spearhead that we complacent modernists and future revolutionaries now place our lots.

I can see, that in the future, my children and grandchildren will live in a society where the expression of homosexual love will be completely accepted. Not only will it be accepted, but it won't be given second thought or be attributed to a strange and alien set of ideas.

I see the churches acceptance, and the hostilities relegated to the back.

I see the future where my son and his husband will be able to look the straight orphanage liason in the eye and adopt a kid that day, without any wry glances or hushed words behind the back.

I see the age of tomorrow where my daughter and her girlfriend will be standing before the clergy, on the altar, reciting their marriage vows, even in the most traditional of senses, with the clergyman's heartfelt blessing on their union.

And I will be the happy father hearing about my children's happiness, be they straight, bi, or gay.

I will know, and have pride in the fact, that my generation helped to set the engine in motion that abolished that menacing leviathan that is homophobia.

Now in the beginning I
