Children are our future. It truly does take a village to raise one child. We should all take time out to reach one teach one. Of course , most will say, they are too busy or what can they contribute to a child, that is not their own? The answer is simple you can offer encouragement, a kind word or even concern.
Ask a child , "How are you doing"? Then wait for the response.Everything you do for a child is not always based on monetary gifts. Can you imagine growing up and no one every ask about you or even seems the slight bit interested in your well being? We can fix that. It just takes a few moments. Their might be a child in your neighborhood, whose parent or parents may not prioritize time to devote to their children. Offering to help with a homework assignment or cheer them on at a game, if there is no one available to encourage them would be a great help and a self esteem booster for that child.
Christmas is usually the time we pay attention to children with gifts, Why not set aside one or two days out of the year to encourage a child? Budgeting your time may be a lot less costly than budgeting your money. I don't have any money, and often, times I have some time on my hand. This is my revelation, I should never say to myself, I don't have anything to do.
Perhaps, becoming a pen pal to a child and asking them about their interest and hobbies. Their was a time I collected Beanie Babies for my daughter. Maybe you can suggest a hobby to them or let them share in with you on your hobbies. Engaging with children will peak your imagination , as well as keep you young.
I would begin by asking some relatives or acquaintances if they need any help with their childs school work or someone they trust, encouraging or edifying their child. I'm certain, children are people in small packages. How would you feel if everyone seemed to ignore you?
Recently President Obama read the suggestions of children on, "what he should do as president." The comments were sincere and optimistic. Out of the mouth of babes comes clarity and wisdom. Let's invite children to suggest ideas to make this world run smoothly and without hatred. I believe hatred is a taught concept and what I call a "trickle down theory".
Children make a difference in our lives each day. We should set the standard and make a difference in our children's lives. Please, just pay close attention to them. We are paying so much attention to the economy and many other world matters. What really matters is our children.
