The Justice System in the United States is absolutely in the toilet! If you have not had personal experience with the prison systems in this country, be lucky. For those of us who have had family members, friends or ourselves involved within the prison system, you quickly realize that it is NOT "innocent until proven guilty"!
For reasons I don't want to get into, my son has been and now is again in prison. He was only 21 when he first entered the system and now he is 27. He was only home 4 months before going back because of a car accident. Yes, he was drinking.
I'm not about to say that what he did was not wrong. What he experienced while in there was wrong on all levels. And not just because he is my son, it's wrong for many, many people.
I believe a set of laws do have to be adhered to in order to continue with a peaceful interaction with others. But, can you honestly say, in the cold heart of light, that by throwing human beings behind bars, not allowing them a decent amount of sunlight, or decent food, and treating them and the family members that they are beneath dirt under their feet, that this is the answer to reducing crime?
That is the very reason why crime is rising in this country!
I grew up believing the law was the law and that the law was always right. Most of us were taught that way. That's a perfect concept but that is all it is, a concept that the prison and justice system was built on. No one took into account the corruptness of the very people who guard the inmates.
Think about it. Where do you believe the inmates get the drugs they have in prison? Yes, there are some family members or friends that can think of ingeneous ways to smuggle it in. But, pulling from personal experience, that just doesn't happen.
Let's start a day of just a visitation day. First of all, you pull up to the guard tower, your license is taken, written down, your license plate is also recorded, who you are seeing is documented. Now, you will have your car checked, inside out, underneath and in the trunk. The first time, we had to leave my husbands tools at the guard shack. You can't park anywhere close to the prison fences. you then go inside, record all the same info again. You can't wear sunglasses, hats, take purses or anything inside. You will then be patted down, remove all your jewelry and pocket items, take your shoes off and walk through a metal detector. You will then have to stand back and watch as the guards go through everything you have laid down.
Now keep in
