As promising as on-line businesses are the failure rate is almost to the one hundred percent mark. The biggest reason is the belief that all you have to do is put a site on-line and millions of people will instantly see it and start throwing money at you. Then you find out that it involves a great deal of work and planning to become successful. The vast majority give up and jump to the next thing that promises instant riches without any work. I have found that although there are a ton of scams on-line, there are also almost as many programs that work and work very well. There are so many programs that claim to be the only way to succeed or guarantee customers that unless you have a plan and stick to it you will very quickly exhaust your budget and be out of business.
It seems that the first thing that is forgotten in on-line businesses is that unless you are earning more than you are spending you will fail. Add that to the "The grass is greener" type of marketing that absolutely screams at you from every page and every site you see and it is no wonder to me that the failure rate is so high. Unless you are committed to your program you can not help but be distracted from your business or at least begin to question your business potential. Most people then spend thousands of dollars jumping from one program to another never staying with a program long enough to begin to see a profit. If that is not the definition of a plan for failure I don't what is. All they end up doing is exhausting the last of their money and becoming bitter and frustrated. The failure is much worse than just an on-line business because they may have invested money that they needed for family expenses. The cause is the marketing claims. Yes you can make money on-line, it will take time and work to do it just like it does for any worth while project. You must stay committed and most important you must not over spend your income. That means if your income is zero then you spend zero to develop an income. This is very easy to do however on-line. Traffic exchanges and safe list sites all have free memberships and you can build up sales that way. You also have free on-line classified ads which contrary to the hype are the best source for sales that you can find, after all the only people looking at the classified ads are in fact looking to purchase something. There is however a trick to using the ads as an income source and that involves the length of time you run your ads. The longer you run them the further down the list your ad will be, so run ads for no more than two days if possible, that will assure that they will at least have a chance of being seen by your prospective customer.
I cannot write on the high failure rate without showing that there are easy steps that could avoid failure in the first place. To do so in my opinion would be irresponsible.
