The reasons behind the creation of computer viruses

Computer viruses are commonly known to cause undesired effects to the computer. They are usually created with the intent of creating havoc on a users computer. It could possible be for the fun of seeing the user panic at receiving the virus. At the lowest level, a virus could be but a prank/joke to a friend, but has since spread around. These days viruses could also be created to test anti-virus programs, but as accidents occur make matters worse to the public.

Viruses could be created with a criminal intent. People could be paid to create viruses to destroy a specific network. For examples, viruses could be created with the intention of stopping banks from operating. This could have been sponsored by another bank that will be protected from the virus. Another idea is computer terrorism - these people create viruses to revenge on the world for what they believe is wrong.
