I can remember making these as a child because they were cheaper to make than to buy regular popcicles. Since then I have carried on the tradition with my own children but have gotten more creative with it. Making your own homemade popcicles is not only easy to do but a fun and tasty activity to do with the kids. There are so many different flavors you can make and try. I think the creativity of it is what is more fun.

There are a countless containers you can use but most practical is the ice cube tray. There are different shapes and sizes available today and lots of novelty ones as well. I have even used dixie cups or the small plastic cups work well too. and if you cannot find popcicle sticks, plastic spoons work very well.

Here are some things you will need to make these fun and tasty treats:

- Ice cube tray of your liking or cups

- Popcicle sticks or craft sticks

- Your favorite juice or kool-aid. Crystal Light works well too for those looking for a lighter fare.

- Some Cellophane (saran wrap)

Step one: Pour your favorite juice into the ice trays or cups

Step two: Place the cellophane over top and secure

Step three: Poke holes into the cellphane and place your sticks

Step four: Freeze until done

Step five : Enjoy!

You can add in a little soda (pop) into the juice for some bubbles. Gives it a different flavor. Have fun and experiment with it. See how many different popcicle flavors you can come up with. I bet it is more than the ones you can buy at the store.

Now for the adult version. These are great to do with wine or champagne for us adults who want something nice and cool but with a little twist. Just simply follow steps above but use your favorite wine or champagne.

To make jello pudding pops its the same but only using pudding instead of juice. I like to use the instant pudding mixes for this. I add a little extra milk to make it creamier so that its easier to pour into the ice cube trays or cups. But you can also layer it up as well to make it a little different.

I don't think good and tasty treats should be complicated to make. You can do these in layers too to make a bomb pop as well. Just simply fill it part way and follow steps and repeat until all layers are done. It just takes longer but if you have patience it is worth it.

These are fun at anytime of year and for any occassion or just everyday. The kids like them at birthday parties because it is not the standard ice cream to go with the cake.

So pour it, cover it, stick it, freeze it and most of all enjoy it!
