Books, a mess, scattered
holding words of wisdom
a library gone insane
want to devour every thought exerted,
from pen to paper
Creeley's The Hero
Kerouac's On the Road
Ginsberg's Howl
Burroughs's Naked Lunch
Corso's The American Express
Feed my brain
fulfill my empty soul
cannot read fast enough
words create a chaotic ensemble
mind's racing past pace car
A dim light shines about
revealing cracks along ceiling
moon's dazzling glow tickles my eyeballs
all thoughts once spoken
silenced by a wicked demise
Ink, the only thing left
expresses creative visions of originality
words leap from page
as I cast lures upon
reeling them in, revealing their true color
Never miss a beat
for the beat's generation lost
gone unnoticed
squeezing through splintered partitions
of defeated minds
Genius, I say
for that's what they were
toss a soul this way
that way, my way
we need another.
