Poetry: Puzzles

by Memee

Sipping a cup of coffee at that old table and chair

The time did not matter you could always find her there.

Keen old eyes searched for pieces that played hide and seek

elbows on the table and a wrinkled hand against her cheek.

Studying those little cardboard pieces remembering where they laid

much like a musician's rendition of the music he had just played.

Her actions were always precise reaching across from here to there

finding that one piece for which she searched without rising from her chair.

When sleep eluded her tired old body and her worries in life were strong

you could find her in that old parlour humming a long forgotten song.

Sharing memories all but forgotten about a young girl from another time and place

I need not close my eyes to see that old parlour, a puzzle and my Grandmother's lovely old face.
