What does telemarketing mean to you? That is a complicated question. To some it is art, to some it is a hatred, to some it is a business, to some is only part of the business, to some people it is just fun! There are so many views and ways of seeing telemarketing for a personal point of view and a business point.
As an experienced telemarketer, i assure you that i am giving you my honest opinion. I found that after a long day or night of telemarketing at the office when i got home, i would go to a radio, put on some good music and listen to it quite loudly using my headset. As you are aware, most telemarketers wear a headset all day and i found it very relaxing to listen to music that way. Also, i noticed that my private life, meaning my conversations and interactions with people outside work was somewhat stressful as telemarketing seems easy sometimes. But, you and i know real people are not like that. I believe in a good conversation with family, friends and acquaintances and that is priority over telemarketing. Now, when i went to parties after work i found that i was a little loud or maybe a little deaf, it is hard to know. So you have to be careful not to rush into things especially things that take time. As you know telemarketing is very quick. Mind you i don't believe it is for everyone and hopefully like any other job it is good if you enjoy it.
A telemarketer will find will find that most of their private life is now spent with other telemarketers instead of the old friends they had before. Surprisingly, telemarketers do not stop talking when they finish their work, as they find most of their business personnel are about the same age and they have many things in common.
Again, there is not solution to safe guarding the affects to a telemarketers life, as the people you meet and talk to of course, will always have an influence but more so, because of the time a telemarketer spends directly on the telephone and the computer.
It is a long day, and again telemarketing is not for everyone. You will find that some people hired for the position and maybe some people that try it for a few days or a week are fired because they cannot do it. That is another strong affect on your private life. Even if you would like to be a telemarketer of whatever product or service, honestly, you might not get hired, more like fired. Good luck at your next job.....
