Anyone can say many things about the Internet. If it is a problematic electronic medium in which you will find chaos, deception and betrayal will depend on the particular perception of the individual that you are talking to. For others, the Internet is a wonderful portal to a whole new world, where tolerance and respect for each other's preferences are not only a very tangible idea, but the rule of conduct inside this particular world.
While the Internet's code of ethics is still under discussion, thousands of millions log on each day and explore the wonderful world that the Internet puts at their fingertips; they can play role playing games with people on far away countries and even discuss politics with people who, in other times, would have been their enemies. Anyone can turn into anything and create a new and perfect persona; since there is no need to portray and introduce oneself in the flesh we can lie to ourselves and to others and tell them that we have beautiful bodies that resemble the Greek and Roman deities sculptures.
We can spend the entire day sitting down in front of the computer and still go to bed satisfied that we had a fruitful and active day. Our friends will come to us because they "click" with us in a deep psychological way, such friendships can last for years at a time until life moves our small figures off the chess grid of the Internet, and we part each other's life without a good bye or tears.
Such friends will weight heavily in our hearts as we pass and move on from one page to the next; sometimes we write the URL addresses of the pages where we used to "hang out" in a search for those friends that are long gone. Yet, even on the Internet, life continues and moves along, moving us, even if we do not want to keep walking
New friendships appear and with them, new alternatives and new opportunities to find a space that you can call your own; friends that will turn into cybernetic families with whom we will be able to talk and to share our daily activities. Furthermore, the Internet will provide the opportunity to experience the richest part of life and the hardest and the most painful part of life: Love,
