How to get rid of bad breath

This is it. You are on a date with a cute guy whom you have had a crush on for ages. He wasn't making any moves, so you finally got up the courage to ask him out yourself. And, he-more than happily-said yes! He takes you out to dinner at your favourite restaurant, and then to see the latest box office hit movie. The night was the greatest in your memory- cute guy, good time, what more can a girl ask for? He then decides to be a gentleman and drive you home. The car stops in front of your house; he exits, comes around, and chivalrously opens your door, takes you by the arm, and walks you up to your front door. You both agree on how great the night went, and that another date is definitely in the works for next weekend. Suddenly, you feel that he is leaning in for a goodnight kiss. Your heart starts beating faster, excited that this gorgeous male specimen is going to kiss you, so you lean in as well. As soon as you get close enough, you smell it. His foul breath kills the mood.

Don't want to re-enact this end of this story in your own life? Then, learn some ways to get rid of your bad breath.

Believe it or not, chewing gum and mints are not ways of saying goodbye to bad breath. Although they may temporarily freshen your breath, they have no part in eliminating it altogether. These tasty mouth fresheners merely mask the odour for a short period of time.

Instead, brush your teeth regularly, and well. Be sure to brush every tooth (electric toothbrushes are good for this). And don't forget to brush your tongue as well! After brushing, you should floss, and use mouthwash in order to keep your mouth fresh.

Another way to prevent bad breath is by eating yogurt. Yes, yogurt! It is said that this dairy snack helps to prevent bad breath. One serving of yogurt each day reduces the level of odour-causing hydrogen sulphide in the mouth. It also cuts back on bacteria in the mouth, reducing plaque and gum disease.

In some cases, it is not so simple to get rid of bad breath. Sometimes it is caused by something unknown that is occurring inside your body. Bad breath could possibly be caused by an untreated cavity, gum disease or even a stomach-related illness. Therefore, if bad breath persists, it is in your best interest to consult a dentist or doctor to provide a diagnosis and treatment for what is causing the bad breath.

Bad breath can be a barrier in many moments, and can even cause a lack in self-confidence. There are many ways in which it can be prevented and treated. Good oral hygiene is important to your health, and must be taken seriously!
