Building a simple web page

Doing a web page, can be a fun project. Equally, simple web pages are not especially difficult to build and upload onto the net. So, overall, even beginners should not be deterred.

To start with, before anything else, consider what you will be putting on the web site. Will it be a personal web site, or alternatively one based on a specific theme, sports related perhaps, or perhaps a hobby of some description?

Once you have given this due consideration, consider the actual site structure. If this is a first site, then perhaps it is best to keep the structure reasonably straightforward. A very simple page will be just the one page, while a site will have links to other pages within. Consider how many pages will be included, then how the links will be organized on the home page. The home page is the most important navigation page on the site. So, it is important that it is accessible.

Overall, you could consider doing some site drafting beforehand if this helps, but you can just skip to actual site construction. For construction, HTML is used for web page scripts. It stands for Hyper Text Mark-up Language, and although you can actually try using HTML itself, with HTML editor, there are more user-friendly alternatives that allow for non-HTML construction. These are applications that allow the user to design a web page, without entering the HTML. Front Page is a good example. So, it is recommended that if you are not familiar with HTML, then you should use a web page design application like Front Page to assist.

When in construction, you start with the home page then everything follows from there. Do the basic structure first, and then add the content after. When you are satisfied, you can consider uploading the page.

Uploading will require you to have some web space. An ISP (Internet Service Provider) usually provides this, and is a good place to look for a place to upload. Use the options within the web page software, to ascertain appropriate address and domain.

Once you have upload, your site is live! Congratulations on that, but remember that it can always be updated if necessary or required. You can add new features, which may improve overall functionality and design.

Overall, with the amount of software now available you will not need to be proficient in HTML or Java. So, simple web pages can be done very quickly and thereafter can be added to with updates.
