There are many ways to raise money for for animal shelters. It has become even more convenient and fun with the internet. You can send out Emails to your family and co-workers with the shelters web page. Most shelters will have an on-line donation link where you can donate as much as you like, even having funds deducted from your account every month. You can also leave a monetary amount to donate to the shelter in a will.

First off, take a look at your credit card company or other charge cards that you use on a regular basis and see if they allow you to donate a certain percentage to a shelter whenever you use your card. Some banks also allow this and some will even donate a certain dollar amount just for opening up an account. Some search engines like www.goodsearch.com will donate about a penny for each search to the charity of your choice. These are great ideas that won't cost you anything and you will be helping the animals by doing your normal day to day activities.

If you like to write or participate in surveys, some web sites will donate a percentage of your earnings to the charity of your choice. Even some movie theatres with animal themed movies will donate a percentage of ticket cost to shelters. Some pet stores donate money to shelters when you buy certain types of dog and cat food and supplies. Also when checking out at these stores, you can donate a $1.00 or more to a local charity or shelter.

A fun way to raise money would be to have a garage sale. Getting all the neighbors together and donating all or part of the proceeds will help the shelter and cleans out your house! Contacting schools, Dr.s offices, and local businesses for donations is also a great idea. Usually, if the shelter has a website the business or school will get recognized which is a great way to get your business advertised. If you own a business, you can put out donation jars. Your customers or clients can donate their spare change. You can also donate yearly and write it off on your taxes.

Having pot luck dinners, balls, and pet days at the park can also raise money for shelters.

Asking local clubs like Girl or Boy scouts to have a fundraiser and split the proceeds with them. They can earn a badge while helping the animals. As a family, our kids take half of their allowance and birthday money and donate it to our local shelter. There are so many ways to help animals in need and it can be a very fun and rewarding experience. One person can accomplish a lot but the whole community coming together and doing as much as they can make all world of difference for the animals.
