Diggory the Detective

A Science Fiction Detective Story

Chapter 1

I sit at my desk in my office waiting for my next client. 'Who will it be? what will they want me to do?' I think as I look out of my 100th floor window watching the hover cars going to and fro.

Bang Bang

I wonder who that could be. 'Come in.'

The door opens and in walks a voluptuously built young woman. Her luxuriously silky, straight, brown hair reminds me of a flowing cape as it flows down her back and nearly touches the floor. Her wide brown eyes look sad.

'What can I do for you.'

'I am Princess Rivescha of the Regency of Systems. I have come here to ask for your help. Someone has stolen The Gem of Light and now our worlds are in danger.'

'Yeah right a Princess coming to my dump for my help, and I've never heard of this what did you call it Gem of ...'

'It's The Gem of Light and I've come to you for help because you are the only one who can. It is said in the book of prophecy that one day someone will come to our palace and steel The Gem of Light and on this day a Princess must be sent forth and find the one called Diggory. So here I am forfilling my side of the prophecy. Please help us you are my peoples only hope.'

'You must be mistaken. You have the wrong Diggory.'

'You are Diggory descendant of Diggory the traveler?'

'Yes my Great Great Great Grandfather was known as Diggory the Traveler. But what has that to do with this Gem thingy?

'Diggory the Traveler came to our world hundreds of years ago and it was he who brought the Gem of Light to us as a gift. Your Great Great Grandma was a member of our Royal Family.'

'So your saying that I'm partially descendant from your Royal Family and that I'm the only one who can find the Gem of Light.

'Just after Diggory the Traveler Gave the Gem to my family as a gift for Princess Cha's hand in marriage the Royal Seer had a vision. In this vision he saw someone stealing the Gem and a Princess being helped in the Quest to recover it by a man that looked just like Diggory the Traveler.'

'So if you knew that the Gem was going to be stolen why wasn't it well guarded?'

'It was. They managed to get passed the Royal guards.' 'But surely you would have know how it was going to be stolen?' 'The Seer never saw how they did it or who did it just that it had been stolen. Will you please help us?'

'If I am to I'll need more information on this Gem of Light. What is it? What does it do?
