A new Scottish Renaissance is needed

I have written this article to spark what I hope to be somewhat a 21st century Scottish Renaissance. Typically, in politics, there are two primary parties which have totally opposing views on how the world operates, offer two different visions for the future, and have two polar opposite doctrines. Typically this is leftwing' and rightwing', or socialism' versus conservatism'.

In the blue corner for Germany, for instance, is the Christian Democrats. They typically vie the SPD, from the red corner. In America, we have the Democrats versus the Republicans. In Westminster/Britain, Labour versus the Conservatives.

But in Scotland we have Scottish Labour versus the Scottish National Party. Both parties are left of centre on the political spectrum, and because of that things such as the crusade for common sense against the nanny state, and against economically damaging tax and squander' policies, are never challenged but rather are assumed to be correct automatically.

This is a bad place for Scotland to be, especially considering the majority of our economic output in some areas is the public sector, despite the fact the public sector only exists thanks to the tax gleamed from the wealth-creating private sector.

Today's Scotland pales in comparison to the nation we once were. Intelligent Scots living in England were once described by an Englishman as "over-ambitious, over-intelligent, over-educated, and over here". Yet now, following news of the failure of the McCrone deal which cost the Scottish taxpayer 2bn for additional "investment" in the education service, HM Inspectors said there was an action DETERIORATION in the quality of education provided!

And yet, because both of the primary parties in the Scottish Parliament think the same way and assume that a problem that has had money thrown at it, is a problem solved, Scottish public services are never set to improve. Forget life expectancy, literacy rates, economic growth the only thing Scots can expect to increase is the tax burden.

And what of Scottish life expectancy anyway? If you were to ask either the party running the government, or the main opposition party in Scotland "What causes poor life expectancy?", what do you think the answer would be?

Do you suppose it would be "because people make the wrong choices about their lifestyle and have bad diets?".

Yeah, and the Pope is a Muslim(!)

The assumption among the political pygmies at Holyrood is merely that not enough money has been spent to resolve the problem.

Yet,
