I am not ashamed to say that I suffer from mental illness; having said that, I strongly believe, at least based on the scientific sense of mentally illness in general everyone suffers from it in form or another. Whether it's due to past events and/or present events, right or wrong habits, etc. In my personal experience in this manner I feel that the biggest issue with those who are considered mentally ill have little, if any support.
Based on certain information I have come upon scientifically this will never be something you can cure. Psychiatrists are trained to listen to patients complaints of symptoms and chose whichever medication can take care of that particular symptom. When you have mental illness a lot of times even if you find yourself having support for yourself, it may be hard to really make a valid conclusion of what medication to take. I hate to alarm people that some of the medication that is prescribed for one symptom may actually cause another symptom that you've never had before.
I had the pleasure to hear a social therapist tell me "when one medication, helps a major symptom, it uncovers other symptoms that was underlying the major symptom. That may be true, but there is an exception to every rule and it is unfair for people with mental illness to be manipulated by doctors to fill whatever quota they may have for prescribing these different medications. Yes, doctors do get moneyfor the medications they prescribe; which makes them even more money. Most doctors try to keep that under wraps.
Now, case in point the average mentally ill person has no relatives to actually be there for them because it's too much too handle. Friends make fun of certain things you say or do; which in turns makes you even more insecure, sometimes causing you to do things out of the "norm". So more and more you find yourself by yourself because your always thinking no one is one your side anyway. They may say they are, but their actions are a whole lot louder then their words.
I have been diagnosed with all kinds of things from the age of 12; been on all kinds of medications. At one time I was taking on at leas eight diferent anti-psychotics, anti-depressants and mood stabilizers everyday. I do remember my mom over the phone saying very sarcastically, "Go on ahead and keep letting them doctors treat you like their lab rats." I never had support from my mom so I basically brushed what she said off as though it was just her not wanting me to get better.
