Great ideas for weekend vacations

Most people think winter is the season to put their grill away, and forget about camping. These people are missing out on a tremendous opportunity. First of all it is a great time to buy a grill; many companies lower their price because the summer rush is over. Plus, who says you can't have fun camping in the winter time? And, no you don't have to travel down to the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:off ice:smarttags" />Ocala National Forest in Florida to do it. Although I heard it was nice there. Imagine the beautiful snow covered pine trees and all the deer that are suddenly more visible now that the forests vegetation isn't as flush. I know what you are saying; "yeah but I could freeze to death".

Don't worry, here are some easy tips to make your winter camping trip a great one. First lest talk about shelter. Now I don't want to make it seem like sleeping in a tent when it is really cold is easy. As a matter of fact it could be dangerous if you're not prepared. So if you're not too experienced then think of alternatives to a tent. You might want to take advantage of a log cabin rental, which sometimes lower their prices in the winter time; the exception is in late December and early January due to the holiday season. Imagine all the beauty of the great outdoors in a cozy log cabin. They're rentals are great for couples who want a romantic getaway and it doesn't cost as much as you might think. Prices are diverse depending on when, where, and what type of cabin you rent. But many cheaper cabins do not have a kitchen so bringing your grill is still a must. But if you dress warm that hot grill will feel plenty cozy and the fresh air you breathe and the silence you experience will be something you will always remember. Then, when you had enough of that just go back into your cabin. From there you can sit in front of a roaring fire. Another good thing to remember is that you don't have to pay a lot to have a great cabin trip, log cabin rentals on the cheaper side will have a bed but you might need to bring your own sheets. Make sure you ask about things like sheets, lights, bathrooms, and even curtains because at night you can't see anyone outside but if the lights are on they can see you. OK, that sounded creepy; but most cabins do have curtains, but just incase beforehand and ask, you may have bring your own.
On that eerie note I would like to talk about another option. How about just taking a day trip to the outdoors? This is a great for people who have not camped in the winter time before and want to get their feet wet. By the way if you literally get your feet wet you need to go to your car right away, take off any shoes, sox, or anything else that is wet, and pump the heater up. When you go on your day trip remember to bring warm clothes, boots, and it's best to avoid cotton, because when it gets wet via water or sweat, then it holds that wetness in, and wet equals cold when you're camping outdoors. Although you might not need the cooler to keep your food cold remember it could still get warm in the car and it is handy for carrying all of your supplies, and remember to find a good spot close to the road so that you can get back in your car if you start to feel too cold.
