Poetry: Valentine's Day

To all the world, it's just a date.
To us, a date that means the world.
We could not back then contemplate,
The significance of our random date.

A casual, flippant, slow affair,
That slowly grew, but went nowhere.
Despite my years I was yet a boy,
And considered Love a lust decoy.

But Love took hold, and made me see,
That We are more than You and Me.
And We must be, We are still one,
The monolith that we have become.

That special day is then for us,
The starting point that brought us thus,
With help from Love, and Hope and some,
Who see the one We have become.
