Barack Obama's views on abortion

President Barack Obama's view on abortion

According to CNN.com and Whitehouse.gov, President Barack Obama reversed the decision not to support funding for abortions here and abroad. This decision gives our tax money back to the clinics and doctors' that perform these abortion functions and promotions of abortions as an option. Abortion is legal in the United States but tax payers should not have to fund these options.

For the last eight years former President George W. Bush withheld funds from UNFPA, The UN Fund Population Fund but Obama has restored it with a signature. This decision is given as a way of preventing unwanted pregnancies and to reduce abortions globally. How can you reduce abortions if you are financing the promotion of them? How can you reduce abortion if you are financially funding the clinics that perform them here and abroad? Marketing and financial support will not reduce the use of abortions and it will not promote better sex practices. It will only give women a way out if they find themselves pregnant. We wouldn't support pregnant women killing their children once they are born, we shouldn't finance a way for them to do it while in the womb.

Globally this sends a message of support for the promotion and financing of abortions. Promoting abortions and having the US tax payer pay the tab is wrong on many different levels. To increase the way of life, sexual decisions and habits wouldn't it be better to get to the root of the problem than give women a temporary solution? Providing education about sex before marriage, prevention techniques and financial support for family units is a much better place to spend our tax dollars than abortion clinics worldwide.

The topic of abortion is a controversial one that Roe vs. Wade has not calmed in over three decades. It is played out in churches, politics and within families every day in every state, country or republic. What you choose to believe right or wrong is a personal choice but President Obama choosing to fund such activities is appalling. President Obama ran as a Christian in his campaign but it is very hard to see those traits when he chooses to support murder in the womb.

Everyone has choices to make during their lifetime. It is not our place to judge others for their decisions but it is wrong to use our tax money to pay for someone else's choices. Politicians need to take a stance against this reversal of funding. If they do not take a stance on the funding of abortion what will our hard earned money be spent next?
