Heath Ledger's performance is most certainly an Oscar winniner, when you take a look at the contrast of acting from "10 things I hate about you" too "The Dark Knight" the style of acting is quite different and unique. In both film he really catch's the character and I'm sure everyone agrees that not for a single second during the dark knight was I thinking "this guy acting is poor and isn't entertaining". The Joker is an amazing character himself so finding someone who can add this extra twist to something that already exists is quite a challenge and everyone should agree that Heath Ledger's performance is by fare the better than other imitation of the joker from comics.

When you think about it how many actors pull off a follow up, that become more iconic than the original? Not many a tall, in fact I can't think of one off the top of my head apart from Heath ledger himself, he has instantly become iconic as the joker to the world mainly because of the unique changes brought to the character from the producers and director however Heath does pull it off perfectly. When watching for the fifth time to observe his performance there are lot of little things that just make the character so attractive in one sense and believable in another.

Little things Heath does in the film are brilliant for the character like how he keeps licking his lips, instantly that makes you think subconsciously he needs to do that because of the scares. Another great thing that heath does well is his pitch, pase and pause in his voice, every line he says is perfect bringing comedy but serious to the film, also he saying lines in an almost nice voice making the character really likeable as experts do say its not what you say its how you say it and heath really hit the mail on the head with this performance.

Your can't take anything from heath on this one, the performance was brilliant and iconic now to Batman fans however I don't think only heath should get the main spotlight for the performance. The producers and makeup artist have done an amazing job on set and appearance not going too fare with the look or style, Director Christopher Nolan has made the character The Joker brilliant with the quirky changes in the brilliant style of Dialogue, appearance and what the joker stands for throughout the film with its happeneings, a brilliant performance by Heath Ledger and the whole Production of "The Dark Knight".
