The fall of the Leicester City football club

Leicester City Football Club is an English football team founded as Leicester Fosse in 1884, in the town of Leicester in the East Midlands, England.

Before the end of 2008, Leicester City were one of only nine clubs to never fall out of the top 2 tiers of English football.

Leicester Fosse joined the Football Association (FA) in 1890 and settled at its first permanent home; Filbert Street, in 1891, where they stayed for a staggering 111 years.
Leicester Fosse began life in the Midland League in 1891, finishing second they were promoted up to division 2 of the Football League in 1894. The first ever league win was a 13 0 win against Notts Olympic in the FA Cup, the clubs largest win to date.
In 1908 Leicester Fosse finished runners-up in the Second Division, being promoted to the First Division, only to be relegated in their first season, suffering the clubs record defeat to date, a 12 0 defeat to local rivals Nottingham Forest.
During the years of World War I, league football in England was suspended and games were not played as normal. In 1919 the league resumed, and the club reformed under the name Leicester City Football Club'.
Leicester City's first successful manager to note was Peter Hodge, in 1925, Leicester were crowned champions of Division Two, he signed Arthur Chandler, one of Leicester's greatest goal scorers to do date (and considering that includes players like Gary Lineker that is some feat). He played for Leicester for 12 years scoring 273 goals. Another player of note in this period was Adam Black who still holds the club record for most appearances with a huge 528.
In 1928 Leicester recorded their highest ever Attendance with 47,298 against Tottenham Hotspur, and in 1929 they recorder their highest ever league position coming second in the First Division, the second best club side in England, behind Sheffield Wednesday.
In the 1930's the club were less successful being relegated back to the Second Division
