The flight of a bird,
like the leap of a heart
as it skips past a beat.
Soaring through clouds,
like the cold heavy rain
as it ruins your hair.
Diving at life,
like the sun beaming down
as it warms the wet feet.
Floating on air,
like breath in a chill
as it falls in balance.
Darting from fear,
like flames rising fast
as they dance in the dark.
Perching on trees,
like autumnal leaves
as they cling to life.
Falling from grace,
like all that has lived
as it reaches the night.

hovers unseen
upon desolate skies
waiting to be
