Define your version of a soul mate

A soul mate is someone whom you feel was created just for you. You feel complete when in a relationship with him. My husband and I feel that we never want to be apart, unless we absolutely have to. My husband and I know that we are true soul mates. Within a couple of months of meeting each other and corresponding daily, we knew we were meant to spend eternity together, no matter what happened on this Earth.

We have a lot in common. We both love to write, listen to music, sing karoake, blog on the Internet, and family is very important to both of us. We met online on a site called Plentyoffish.com, and we quickly found out that we were from the same neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY, and yet we had never met. Three years ago, we decided we really wanted to change that, and we went out on a date back in our old neighborhood where I was still living. After serving several years in the Navy, and working for the U.S. Post Office and then the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he had moved to the suburbs outside of New York City and begun writing at home and taking care of his Father. After his Father's passing, he lived with his Mother and Sister, but we believe it was the right time for us to jump wholeheartedly into our own relationship.

We met during the Summer of 2005. We went to breakfast at a neighborhood cafe, and over eggs and coffee, we couldn't believe how much we had to talk about. We decided not to go to a movie as planned because we just wanted to talk more, walk and get more acquainted. We walked around the neighborhood where he grew up; he showed me all the apartment complexes he had lived in and the school where he graduated. We passed a floral stand, and he asked me which roses I would like. When I couldn't decide between the red and pink rose bouquet but mentioned that red meant love, he asked me if I wanted both bouquets, but I decided on the red ones. Although it's usually said not to talk about past loves, we had already corresponded about them, so he knew I was divorced after a long-term marriage and that I had two grown children. I knew that he had been married for one year, and it had not worked out. He asked me on our date, "Where have you been all my life?" several times. I told him I'd been waiting for him right there for several years. We stopped for coffee at a Starbucks in Park Slope, still talking away, and afterwards we walked along Prospect Park where he showed me he had had his first kiss from a little girl when he was a child there with his
