So you have decided to give your little princess a princess bedroom of her very own. Where do you start? What princess do you choose? How are you going to design it? What colors do you use when you hate the color pink? So many things to decide from, so let's get started.
CHOOSING A PRINCESS
Let your daughter choose which princess she wants, she is the one that is going to have to live in the room, not you. If the dcor is for a baby, Disney offers a new line of baby princesses that is perfect to decorate a nursery. Or let mom use her favorite princess to decorate the room. More than likely the baby girl will grow to love the same princess and it will become a bonding point for mom and the baby girl.
DESIGN
The key to the design of the room is to remember that your daughter is not going to want her bedroom in the princess design for the rest of her life. So choose a design that you will be able to change to something else when the time comes that she has grown out of her princess phase. Instead of painting cute designs on the wall paint it a solid pale color that she will be able to still live with when she is 17. Use framed pictures and posters to decorate the wall instead. Also you can buy princess wall dcor that sticks directly to the wall and will easily come off when it is time to change.
COLORS
Usually when you think about Disney Princesses, the first color that comes to mind is pink. But, you don't have to settle with this widely over used color. If you think about each of the princesses they each have their own color. Granted, Sleeping Beauty's signature color is pink, but you also have Belle from Beauty and the Beast who is seen primarily in the yellow of her beautiful ball gown. A Snow White bedroom would work with the colors of red and blue. Cinderella and Jasmine are both princesses of blue. So you can still have a princess themed bedroom without having to settle for the color pink.
MISC
Aside from the walls, there are other things that make a princess room. Such as curtains and sheets. Don't be afraid to buy these with the princesses on them. By the time that your little girl is ready to change her room the sheets and curtains will have worn out anyway. Just keep in mind that too many things in the room with princesses on them can make the room too busy. A room that is too busy can create sleeping and concentration problems in the child.
Giving your little girl the Disney Princess bedroom that she wants is easier then you think. Just keep it simple so you can change it later and decorate the walls with things that are easily removed. Also if she is able to let you daughter pick out the decorations for her room and let her help, it will be a great time for the both of you.
