Be Mine, Valentine.
The only words that it said.
A scrap of note paper,
Crayon scribbles, blue and red.

Oh, how I miss you,
She wrote in the letter.
Please be safe.
Come home again,
The sooner, the better.

A letter, a card,
Two wishes so dear.
I Couldn't bear to watch,
As he wiped away a tear.

"You know - some day",
He began to say
"I'll be back home
On Valentine's Day."

"And on Christmas and New Year's
And for her birthday, too.
I won't miss this place,
This hell, so cruel."

The bullets and bombs
Have taken their toll.
Another Soldier has fallen,
Another name on the roll.

Of a drum beat in heaven
Stirred by Angel's Hands.
A Father, a Husband
Gave his life for this land.

Play on, ye makers
Of stars and of light.
Play the good music
That soothes this dark night.

Give back just one spirit.
For Valentine's sweet day.
Her Daddy, Her Life
Has been taken away.

Yet do not ye weep,
For our purpose is true.
We stand united and proud
For the Red, White and Blue.

We have given our lives
So others will be
The sons and the daughters
Of Sweet Liberty.

Never forget the soldiers that lived
And died for this land.
Holding Valentine's wishes
In his loving hand.

For Soldier and Sailors
And husbands are we.
At war, or in peace
We serve our country.

And when we fall
Leaving love and life
We'll remember our children
And cherish our wife.

Hear heaven's music
Faint strains far away.
That sing of devotion
This Valentine's Day.
