Have you ever met someone you had no instant attraction in, and ended up with your soul mate? My husband and I have known each other for seven years, and we have been married for almost five of those seven years. Working together for two years, I noticed Zachary only from a distance, because I was in a relationship with someone I thought I was in love with, but was blind to the fact that he would never marry me, or want children of our own.
One hot summer day at the cattle feedlot where we worked, Zachary walks into the office with a large cut on his palm, bleeding everywhere. He simply asks for a rag or paper towel and I immediately tell him to get in my truck, we are going to the hospital so he can get stitches. As we ride into town, we make small talk and I am simply worried about his hand, little did I know that I am riding with my future husband and father of our children.
After stitches and thank you's, we go our separate ways. The next day at work, two dozen pink roses arrive, much to my complete suprise. I thought it was just for taking Zac to the hospital, I didn't know that he liked me and would do anything for me. The first two months after Zachary cut his hand, he tried so hard to get my attention. Roses every week, Zachary chocolates in my desk, and Spangler candy canes in my truck. Not to mention the two stuffed puppies he gave me when I sold the last two out of my litter and my heart was broken when they left.
Falling in love with Zachary was easy to do. His kind words, passionate heart, and genuine soul melted my heart in a short time. I knew I was in love with him when he brought his eighteen month old nephew to meet me. I knew he was trying to impress me, but he didn't have to try. Seeing him with a baby that he loved more than anything touched my soul in a way nothing in my life ever had. We were engaged six short weeks after we began dating, and were married eight months later.
After trying for several months following our wedding, we found out I was pregnant. Zac was with me through it all, the ups and downs, the tears and laughter. Just watching him kiss my belly every night and telling our baby that Daddy loves her meant more to me than any words he could ever tell me. When the time came, I have never been more in love with someone than I was seeing him hold our daughter for the first time. Eighteen months later, we welcomed our son into the world, and into the very loving arms of his parents.
Our love has definitely had many ups and downs, just a few months ago Zachary spent a couple of weeks in the hospital, and every night I cried because I missed him so much, and never want to be without him. I know how lucky I am to be so in love with such an incredible man. Falling in love was both the hardest, and easiest thing I have ever done. Indeed, I am a very lucky woman to be in love with the best husband, friend, and Daddy in the whole world.
