Poetry: Be yourself

by Carla Visocchi

Created on: January 25, 2009

Contain the will to self-advertise

For the sole purpose of causing others to become jealous,

Awe-struck,

Resulting in your false satisfaction.

Please note:

Humility is a virtuous quality

If we were quieter,

The world-

Minus those who

Show off unnecessarily-

Would be a much more wholesome place.

See no evil-

Physical beauty cannot fall into the category of

True.

There are many modifications that can be used to look

Beautiful and unauthentic.

Inner beauty is what matters.

It does not come with a price tag-

It comes from the heart.

It is true.

Hear no evil-

There is not a need for the wealthy

To be proud of their material goods.

Taking pride in what they have

Accomplished to get for themselves,

Instead of helping those in need.

In current society, it is crucial

To share the wealth-

There are many in need,

But so few willing to help.

Speak no evil-

Bite your tongue, and

Make it bleed if necessary

Before speaking badly of another

Human being.

There is a good in everyone,

At times you may have to look deep

To find it.

But, once you do,

You will realize it was worth

Searching for.

What good is it to

Envy others

As a result of

Unnecessary attention-seeking?

It serves no purpose to this world.

No good purpose, at all.

Want to make an impact?

Be quiet, be humble,

Be you.
