How the recent financial crisis has affected you negatively and the steps you are taking to correct the situation

amidst the jumble of elbows and grasping fingers.

It's the little things I miss the most. Those weekend shopping sprees at the mall are long gone. Too many of my favorite stores have shuttered their windows and locked their doors, never to return. Prices have been falling and rising as stores seek to make a profit. Now when I shop I feel like I'm donating to my favorite charity. Speaking of charities, they are certainly hit hard. My mailbox is filled with pleas for donations. Yet, it's difficult to turn a blind eye, for after all, we still have more than some in this world.

We've tightened our belts, learning to make do with what we have. The new coal stove is working great and saving us lots of money on oil. Hard times bring new innovations; I just wish they'd hurry up already. I read somewhere that if you have money, now is the time to make a financial killing. So I've been counting the pennies in the jar wondering how much of a killing I could make.

Things are tough and uncertain, but I continue to count my blessings. I haven't given up on capitalism just yet. I don't even mind spreading the wealth, just as long as it's my idea. When I get depressed and discouraged, I remember that we're in the process of birthing a brand new economy. I just can't wait to see what it looks like.
