point? I have not, in my sixty-seven years, read anything convincing, anything scientific with solid research behind it, that would lead me to believe that "gay" is a life-style choice. However, there is a growing body of evidence that it is one of probably millions of genetic mutations that can happen while we are in the process of developing from fertilized egg/embryo into viable human being.

I inadvertently did my own little experiment after my second divorce, which was particularly painful and temporarily left me positively hating all men. I decided that maybe the lesbians had it right, and started paying attention to attractive and/or intelligent and interesting females and trying to imagine myself in a relationship with them. That was more than forty years ago, and I've still never met a woman that turned me on!

Watch Animal Planet (or your own dog, for that matter) and you will see that males, particularly, are willing to relieve themselves sexually with almost anything of either gender that moves (or statues and other inanimate objects if nothing close by is showing signs of life). If all God's
other creatures will try to mate with just about anything when the urge overwhelms them, then God must have created them that way and probably doesn't
hold them in contempt. However, many people are told by their spiritual guides that God holds in contempt the people that he made with the same urges and/or genetic mutations as the other creatures he created.

Is the United States ready for a gay president? No. And we probably won't be until we can accept the fact that being gay is rarely, if ever, a purely personal choice. It is most often the result of genetic mutations that have created the great variety of life on this planet and should be accepted as such in the same way we accept the multitude of other physiological differences that exist between us. When that happens, and an act of Mother Nature stops being considered a sin, we'll be ready for a gay, lesbian, transgendered, or bisexual president.
