Poetry: Step-fathers

by Lucinda Davidovna

Created on: January 24, 2009

The first time that it happened

I could see how she was charmed;

He seemed like a nice person

Til he caused all this harm.

I soon came to my senses,

Began to understand

Despite all I had ever thought,

He wasn't a good man,

So I erased him from my life,

And learned to live alone;

A lonely only child

In a single-parent home.

The second time it happened,

I got a bit annoyed;

I was sick of being thrown around

And played with like a toy.

But I think she really loves him;

He's set up camp in her heart.

And I think she'll keep on loving him,

As he tears her child apart.
