Golf club reviews: Callaway FT IQ driver

The Callaway FT IQ Driver is the must have golf club for 2009

This golf club is a new breed of driver. It is designed with square technology. It is modeled after the Lamborghini sports car and this driver is something you can't wait to get a hold of. It is fast, straight and has an overall attractive looking head, that draws attention to everyone who is near it.

Square technology redefined.

Square technology is relatively new and the verdict is still out on its overall performance. I understand the science behind being square and help to explain it in "Do square golf drivers really work?" I am an avid believer of the science and after hitting this driver I am a firm believer of this club as well. Until new technology makes square a thing of the past I will be swinging a square headed driver and think you should to. The perimeter weighting of a square head is very forgiving to a missed shot yet still rewards a well struck ball.

The first generations of square drivers were both visually displeasing and audibly irritating. The new Callaway FTIQ driver has absolutely redefined both. The top of this club has both the squareness of the new generation but also has an aerodynamic tail modeled off the Lamborghini which screams "Speed and Strength". The sound at impact has gone from a tin sounding hollowness to a more tradition deep sounding drum that also draws attention. This club has eliminated the embarrassment of swinging square and its only a matter of time before it is accepted as the norm.

The Calloway FTIQ has a titanium face which uses Callaway Hyperbolic technology which delivers consistency coupled with forgiveness. A dream for every golfer.

After my first swing I knew I would be hitting the Callaway FTIQ this year. The tail, much like the sports car its modeled after, is aerodynamic and is so easy and smooth, with little friction, generating greater club-head speed. Another key to every golfer.

After 30 balls I was loving the feel, straightness and distance I was achieving with this club but it was the ugly shots that had me hooked. The shots I hit off the heal or toe may not be going as long as a well struck ball but they were still landing in play and not in the bush. So my errors were not punishable by penalty they were rewarded with a shot that still allowed me a chance to score. Once again a dream for every golfer.

This club may take a traditional golfer a little longer to get use to looking at but I guarantee looking at your ball landing in play instead of out of bounds will help you make that switch a lot quicker.

The Callaway FT IQ the 2009 must have club!
