Last year we saw huge comebacks. No doubt year 2008 was exceptional for comebacks of a variety of celebs. We saw greatly desired celebrities such as Britney Spears and Robert Downey Jr. and those who saw an average reception by public such as Brooke Shields, Jean Claude Van Damme, 80's music band New Kids on the Block, and elderly Cloris Leachman. So what about year 2009? Should we expect something like last year again? Let's have a look at the possibilities.
Who else it could be than to start with "The Voice". Finally Whitney Houston is releasing her long awaited album in March 2009. She has done rehab successfully and she is happier and healthy. But she would not be a commercial success in music scene. Despite the fact that I am a huge fan of her, her first song from latest album does not contain the material which Whitney's fans are looking for. Her voice too does not sound as sultry and powerful as it was used to be. Even if you listen to the recent promotional concerts, you would be disappointed. But it would be a great come back as even if this album may not go well, it will prove to be a base for her future work.
Another expected comeback is expected by Cher. Although previously, she had been noted saying that The Farewell Tour will be her last live tour but recently she performed at Caesar Palace, Las Vegas. Her new album may not receive very high critical acclaim but it would be an above average effort. After all she is the most enduring artist of the last 40 years. So keep your fingers crossed she may come back with something great.
Remember Back to the Future? How can one forget the charming Michael J. Fox? He has been through a lot for years now, fighting with Parkinson's disease. He have been doing some occasional gigs on TV and big screen but I believe 2009 will be his proper come back year.
A very appropriate and timely come back is expected by Amy Winehouse. The winner of five Grammy awards in a year has been going through major problems in her personal life. But now it seems she is back to the track. I expect her new album to be more diverse It would definitely give a boost to her career.
In 2009 we might not see Branjelina together in some film score but the project will initiate for sure. The movie may release in 2010 or so. And Britney Spears will further promote her career this year based upon the great success of Circus. She would continue to sell well and once again establish herself as the queen of pop.
Enough with the showbiz lets move on
