Understanding the law of attraction

by Karen Williams

Created on: January 24, 2009

With regard to Law of Attraction, I heartily recommend the books and tapes of Abraham-Hicks if you haven't already encountered them. Sometimes I laugh that I've become a walking infomercial for Abraham-Hicks. I have absolutely no official affiliation with their organization, but I could never begin to express how much the philosophy has meant to me. Thus my unbridled zeal.

The important thing to know is that nobody gets anything to which they're not a vibrational match. There are no accidents and no random events. People sometimes ask about circumstances that affect a large number of people, such as an airplane crash. I point out that everyone on board would indeed have to be, in their own way, a vibrational match to being in a plane crash in order for them to experience that together.

If there were some people who were on a flight and not a vibrational match to a crash, then the plane could not/would not crash. However, if other people WERE a match to a crash or something equally unwanted, they would have an undesirable experience in another context.

We receive that which we vibrate (think about), according to Abraham, and I find that radically clarifying with regard to why things happen as they do. And it "gives us our power back," as the saying goes. We always have control over how we vibrate, for we always have control over our habits of thought.

When a plane goes down and people die, they may have been vibrational matches to the crash in far different ways. Maybe some of the people actually wanted to end their time on Planet Earth. The crash would actually, on a certain level, be welcome to them. Other people, in order to rendezvous with such an experience, were sufficiently cut off from their well-being by unhappy habits of thought that they matched up with something thoroughly unwanted.

For the most part, people "check out" because they're either through with this lifetime or they have looked at what's wrong with life, instead of what's right, for so long that they've pinched their natural well-being off to a drastic extent.

There is no death, though, from the broadest perspective, for everyone is an eternal being who will return to physical expression repeatedly. And even fiery infernals aren't the experience they appear to be, for people's Inner Being plucks them out of the suffering in a speedy way, according to Abraham. That's nice to know.

If you want to experiment with Law of Attraction, Abraham suggests thinking of something intermittently for a few days and then seeing if it turns up in your experience. They've suggested that people do it with random objects such as blue glass. Simply focus on an object that's not prevalent or particularly important in your experience, and then see what happens. It can be a fun exercise.

We're always getting the essence of what we think about, whether we want it or not. Choose happy thoughts. It's well worth the effort, and it feels so good.
