Tips to keep your cat entertained

"Oh for the simple things in life" that is how I suppose I would sum up my idea of how best to describe the thought pattern of a cat. Although many would say that cats were totally self contained animals who only look after their own interests, I have to disagree. Cats love to rub up against the legs, the face, even take a liking to licking ones hands, fingers and ohh for that P-r-r-r-r-fect massage with carefully sheathed claws as they pad gently into the bedding, as you lie there all twisted and curled up trying to rest. Such a deep purring which would increase in volume as it reached your ears like a distant motorcyle engine! Why these intrepid creatures seem to be able to camouflage themselves into the upholstery of the furniture so cleverly, it takes a while to find them as they lie curled up in their own comfort... so snug. Always able to find the cosiest place to sleep and such adventurers who will scale fearlessly great heights and flirt with danger... somehow testing their '9' lives myth.

So now we get to where we ask ourselves, how do we entertain such enlightened creatures? Ah, well.. you see it would be like this...

Firstly, forget about all those expensive cat toys! Puh! My cat 'Leo' a ginger tomcat (orange) won't even give them the time of day! He looks with distain at such gadgets. No, he prefers the more simple things and least expensive if anything to give him entertainment. Here are just a few pointers to knowing your cat more and how to understand how to keep him entertained for no cost at all for you or your loving mischevious pet.

Welcome to a cats world!

1) Hunting - He loves to hide in a good hiding place..especially in a darkened area of a room..waiting in the shadows, under the coffee table, behind the curtains, at the bottom of the stairs, at the top of the stairs, from behind a chair/couch, making himself invisible..ready to strike...good prey...feet, quick movement (running up/down the stairs) looking in cupboards, making the bed, whilst lying in bed going for your feet on top of the cover. Loves running after 'Lemonhead candies" plays with them in his paws, picks them up and throws them, running and flicking milk carton rings into the air, pushing along the floor with his paws.. noseying into school bag, shopping bags, cardboard boxes,(does'nt matter the size) .

2)Playing tricks on the dog is fun! Running after the dogs tail, trying to make himself tall as he runs at the dog eventually raising himself on his hind legs to box with his front paws at the dogs face. Although he does like the dog and will lie beside him at times.

3) Humans are stupid!..A simple meow is not enough! He can become like grease lightening as he runs back and to from room to room zig zagging as he tries to get your attention. Then as he scales the bookcase and walks along the ledge as if on a tight rope just to end with a free fall through the air landing with a mighty thud to gain your attention away from the computer. He is a misunderstood genius, a ninja and he wants you to know it!

Then of course there is the 'personal assistant'. He wishes to help you. So as you are trying to sieve through paperwork spread across the table, desk or floor... you can be sure he will be there, walking over the work, even holding the paper in place by lying across it and stretching and curling around it as he reaches for the corners to flick with his paws.

Oh to be worshipped.. to be talked to, to be kissed and fussed...

This is all for the entertainment of ones cat..ones friend, ones boss!

But with all this 'entertainment' for both my cat and I, life would surely be so dull without, so I guess I shall just go on loving and adoring my cat.

Happy entertaining!
