Planning for that long awaited vacation can be a tedious process, especially when trying to decide where to stay. Because there are so many lodging options, it is important to understand the pros and cons of where you want to stay. It doesn't matter if you are going to Hawaii or England, this article will outline the pros and cons of renting a condo during your coveted vacation.
Pros
Cheaper than the alternative Condos can be up to fifty percent cheaper than staying in a hotel or resort. Additionally, they can be larger in size than most hotel rooms, containing multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. Because condos usually offer more room, the price you pay per person is significantly less.
Extra amenities Privately owned condos are often equipped with extra amenities. These amenities can include board games, video, video games, and guest books to catalog your vacation. These amenities can be fruitful if you come across bad weather and are confined to your condo.
Home-like feel - Many condos have a home-like feel with kitchens and barbeques available. The majority will be stocked with plates, bowls, utensils, and cooking spices to help you prepare meals. With the availability of a kitchen, your food costs can be cut significantly.
Cons
Privately owned - Condos are usually privately owned and kept up by individuals that may live far from the vacation destination. This introduces some difficulties especially if an emergency arises. Unlike hotels and resorts, if you run out of towels or have problems with the pluming, the landlord may be difficult to locate or contact.
May be inconvenient - When compared to hotels and resorts, condos may not be located near certain conveniences such as a grocery store or restaurant. During a recent vacation to Maui, my husband and I stayed at a condo located far from any grocery stores. Because we were unable to get a rental car on the day of our arrival, we were forced to take an expensive taxi ride to the nearest restaurant.
Limited maid service Many condos only offer maid service at the completion of your stay. If you plan on vacationing with many people including children, the lack of daily bed and towel service may be problematic. Additionally, some people just don't want to be completing chores when they are on vacation.
Overall there are several pros and cons to renting a condo during your vacation. Every family has different needs and wants for their vacations, so choose wisely and have a wonderful vacation.
